About the Position

Hotchkis & Wiley is seeking a Trade Analyst to provide operational support to our trading function.  This position will provide coverage for the existing Trade Analyst team with a focus on equity. The position will sit as part of our Investment Team. Supports H&W’s investment professionals, implements investment decisions, and facilitates the investment process.  The position is located in Los Angeles and offers a hybrid of in-office and work from home flexibility.

 

About What You Will Do

Provide analysis for client service as needed

 

  • Creation of target and cash flow trades; resolving compliance flags generated by trading systems; recording all target changes and reweighting activity etc.
  • Review of daily cash flow and determination of any action required
  • Daily monitoring of client portfolios against target portfolio
  • Ensuring all corporate actions are processed in trading system
  • Creation of target portfolios for new and existing clients
  • Provide weekly summary of trading activities to the Investment Team
  • Set-up and classification of new securities in trading system
  • Set-up and maintain brokers in trading system
  • Loading of securities, cash contributions and withdrawals into trading system when necessary

 

Provide cover for high yield trade analyst

 

  • Affirmation of fixed income trades with brokers
  • Ensuring all corporate actions are processed in trading system
  • Cash and asset reconciliation and subsequent posting of cash and differences
  • Set-up and termination of accounts in trading system
  • Set-up and change to brokers in trading system
  • The upkeep of the data integrity between our trading systems, data feeds etc.; reviewing potential issues and setting up procedures to rectify concerns
  • Communication of derivative trades to the back office
  • Responding to settlement questions from Brokers or Northern Trust (our third party back office service provider)
  • Tertiary support for fixed income securities pricing

 

Identify opportunities to continuously improve processes to realize efficiencies and mitigate risk to enable scale in existing and new strategies Perform all necessary checks and controls to ensure the integrity of financial data for our products Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of trade analyst controls to better align with evolving business needs

 

Skills & Experience Required

It is essential that the candidate is detail oriented and has familiarity with the equity markets most likely gained through a trading/operations position.  The ability to be resourceful, creative, versatile, work autonomously, as well as in a team environment, is essential for this role.  


A successful candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • A high degree of accuracy, excellent attention to detail and critical thinking powers
  • The ability to work directly with portfolio managers and traders in what can be a very fast paced working environment
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with a diverse group of associates and Portfolio Managers
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Very good organizational skills with the ability to multi task under pressure
  • Strong operational reconciliation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter
  • Intermediate to Advanced technical skills Ex: Microsoft Excel (v-lookup, pivot tables, macros, etc.)
  • 1+ years of finance or investment operations experience preferred
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and sound judgment in resolving matters of high complexity
  • Ability to prioritize assigned work and complete in a timely manner
  • Strong attention to detail while juggling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate and develop/maintain working relationships inside and outside the organization


The expected
base salary range for this position is generally between $80,000 to $120,000 per year.  This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus as part of a total compensation package which also includes our company sponsored benefit programs.  Base salary is determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, and market factors.
